I have learned a few things in the 22 years or so that I have been in journalism. While I am not a graphic designer, I have developed a limited design sensibility along the way. I have held newsroom positions including staff writer/reporter, copy editor, columnist, assistant news editor, opinion page editor, assistant city editor, website staff writer, and blogger. I have designed and paginated front pages, section fronts, interior news pages, Op-Ed pages, and special sections.

And in recent months I have started two different blogs on two different platforms.

Recently I offered to critique The World in Coos Bay, Ore., for its overall journalistic and design quality. Below is a link to that review.
